Rediscover the Net- While you might understand how to use Google to ‘surf’ the internet and understand how to load a picture onto your social networking site, using the internet for CNA training is a whole different story. You need to learn how to best use a web browser, protect yourself with internet security, and be able to effectively and efficiently make your way through web portals. Before you begin CNA training, check out your local community center or college and see if they offer any free or inexpensive classes to help you learn more.
How You Learn- Being successful during CNA training means being able to take the information provided by your instructor and textbook and using it on a daily basis to ensure the health of those you care for. To do this, you need to understand how you learn best. Some individuals learn best by hearing information, some by seeing it, and others by doing it. Figure out your way of learning BEFORE you begin your training so your grades don’t suffer for it.
Get Organized- CNA training works the same way every other type of class does. You’ll have a textbook you have to read from, assignments, quizzes, and tests. In addition, you will be learning procedures you will have to master in a very short time period. The only way to keep all of this in check is to get organized. Keep a calendar or appointment book. Track what reading or writing assignments are due, how far you have progressed on certain procedures, and schedule when quizzes and tests will take place. Organization will help you stay on top of your studies and help you prepare for each new day.
