Revegetation is the process of retoiling and replanting the soil of soils that are disturbed. Revegetation is a natural process producing plant colonization and succession, or an artificial accelerated process designed to repair damage to landscape. Due to forest fires, mining, floods and other causes, land becomes continually degraded over time. Originally the process was simply one of applying seed and fertilizer for land disturbed, usually grass or clover. The fibrous roots of grasses are useful for erosion control in the short term, especially on sloping ground. People must establish longterm plant communities to establish healthy, woody plants.
